The best way to maintain your plumbing system is to schedule an annual plumbing inspection with Steve’s Plumbing & Heating. We offer comprehensive assessment services including repair and plumbing replacement. A plumbing checkup could reveal small issues before they turn into costly problems. To schedule your check-up this spring, call us today. We’ll send a technician to your home to perform a point-by-point evaluation and let you know what we find.
What Does a Plumbing Inspection Include?
Our plumbing checkups are comprehensive. We cover every component to make sure that it is working properly and leak-free. An inspection can include:
Shut Off Valve. We will locate the shut-off valve to your home’s water supply to determine if it is proper working order. In most cases, the shut-off valve is located somewhere in the yard. There should be zero water coming into the home when we turn off the valve.
Possible Upgrades. If you’re getting ready for a kitchen or bathroom remodel, we recommend replacing any lead pipes. Lead is toxic to you and your family and could cause health problems down the road.
Water Pressure. Have you noticed a decline in water pressure since you’ve been in the home? One of the causes of this could be oversized or undersized pipes. We can check the entire system to see if we need to install pipes that are the right size.
Water Heater. Does the water heater have the capacity to handle your family’s water needs? If not, you may want to look into investing in a tankless water heater. Otherwise, we look for issues such as corrosion, mineral deposits in the tank, proper lighting, and any leaks.
Insulation. Most plumbing systems in homes are not properly insulated. This is why the pipes burst during the winters in Central Wisconsin. We look under the house and around the base to make sure that all the pipes are insulated.
Fixtures and Drains. We check all the faucets and drains to make sure there are no leaks or loose seals. A leaky faucet could increase your water bill each month. We can reseal the fixtures or replace them if you are undertaking a bathroom or kitchen remodel.
The Toilet. Is the toilet in good condition? Are there any leaks around the seals or connections. If the shut off valve is corroded, we can replace it so that there are no leaks behind the walls. We also look for any mold around the toilet. Mold is a sign that there is a leak.
